Hi everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to wrap up today. Despite the fact that Scott had surgery in the morning they still insisted on getting him to try to breath on CPAP. Yesterday, the goal was 4 hours and Scott did great. Today, the goal was “Go Scott Go” until he felt too tired to continue. He made it 7 hours!!!! I believe in my heart he could have continued on but it was getting close to the end of visiting hours and I think he was nervous that once the family and I left and he got tired no one would be there to help. Again, Scott is struggling to regain his confidence. My hope is that he uses the success of today to fuel his confidence tomorrow! His mind is powerful but he’s using it in the wrong way! He has to believe he can and is able to do it.

Scott is doing really well and stabilizing quite nicely. The Dr. from rehab came down while Scott was breathing on his own and was impressed that not only was Scott’s chest rising and falling but his stomach was as well. Apparently, this means that more of his diaphragm is working! YeeHawww!!!! Check another small miracle box! Thank you Jesus! It appears that his lungs are pneumonia free but still have a lot of fluid in the bottom lobes. He does not have a fever and his heart rate and BP seem good. All signs that Scott is heading quickly to rehab!

Rehab starts chapter 3 and I feel like I’m reading the Twilight series all over again cause I can’t wait to see what happens next! Only difference is when I was reading I could “accidentally” drop the book to see what was ahead but in this story I am forced to be patient! No fun. Anyway, I think chapter 3 is going to be amazing but challenging. Scott is sleepy a lot and when he’s awake nervous energy takes over. He’ll want TV on, then his nose scratched, then chap stick on, then turn the TV off cause he changed his mind and wants music….This is most of his awake time and TOTALLY understandable. Scott struggles to sit still. Rehab will be wonderful because he can use that nervous energy to push himself forward. He can use it and then crash at night from a cocktail of pure exhaustion and achievement. I can’t wait! I have been told that rehab is not going to be a breeze for me either. I have a lot to learn from nutrition, caregiving, precautions, etc. It’s going to be as exhausting as the ICU has been but hopefully more rewarding. Scott and I feel more helpless the ICU and if you know us, you know we need to feel like we’re making impact.

Ok..so moving on…I have a link for the golf outing being held in Toledo that I mentioned in my previous post.
On that note, I have heard that several of our Cleveland friends and family have asked about an event here in town. Scott’s sister, Lindsey, is in the process of trying to put an event together at the end of August or the beginning of Sept. If anyone is interested in volunteering in assisting Lindsey or have ideas to help her in any way please contact her via email:lfedor626@aol.com or by cell:440-263-2813

I really don’t have words to thank everyone for the display of support and love I have felt from you all. It touches my heart and it makes me feel so much better that my writing, that I do as much as a therapeutic outlet as to keep you all informed, as had the power to change peoples lives. I know that Scott and I are so blessed to have such a beautiful love but I didn’t know that that love could help so many others rediscover their faith, have the courage to do things that terrified them, reunite with lost loved ones. It gives me goosebumps to feel that God worked through us to fix some broken things that needed repaired. If it weren’t for your posts I would probably feel that this terrible event happened in vain. I think it’s safe to say that the prayers that you’ve all said on behalf of Scott and I are also helping SO many others. I’m so thankful.
