It’s been a week and I’m still on bed rest for most of the time. This pressure sore is being pretty stubborn to say the least. The only consolation is that it’s been very cold and very gray, so I haven’t missed much.

It has still been a busy week, though. I have had a lot of meetings regarding my transition to the apartment. Things are moving forward but not as smoothly as we’d like. It’s kind of like two steps forward and one step back. However, the end is still in sight.

Another slate of great football games this weekend is on the agenda. I saw that Dennis Byrd spoke to the New York Jets before their game last week. He was a football player who broke his neck several years ago during a game. He is also the player who had the Romans scripture verse hanging above his hospital bed. This is the same verse I’ve carried in my wallet for over 15 years and currently hangs above my bed. We had tried to contact Dennis a year ago after I was injured but had no luck. The verse is as follows:

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

This past week has been emotionally draining and I am looking forward to my date night with Kristy tonight. Steaks, wine and a movie are the plan for tonight! Plus, the protein in the steak should help my body heal and finally get me out of bed.

Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support!  Stay warm!

Scott

Sounds like a rough and frustrating couple of weeks.. Hope things get on the positive track real soon. Hang in there!! Who should I root for this weekend? I’m thinking the Jets because they are underdogs and really scrappy, but I really like the Rooneys(but not the quarterback) Marilou

    Hi Scott,

What a surprise to learn that my friend, Kathy, is down the hall from you rehabing from her surgery. It is a small world we live in. Hope you enjoyed the brownies!

I hope and pray you get out of bed SOON – you are so right though – this weather has not been enticing at all.

I’m sure you heard of the beautification of John Paul II in May of this year. A French nun has been cured of Parkinson’s due to John Paul’s intercession. He needs another miracle attributed to him so that he can be declared a saint – I know that you have a special liking to him, and I pray that YOU are his second miracle. I hope that everyone on your e-mail list says a daily prayer to John Paul on your behalf and we’ll watch that miracle happen.

Good Luck with the apartment – hope it goes smoother for you from here on out.

    God Bless You,
    Mary (Bobbi’s friend)

Glad the plans for the move are moving along even if not as quickly as you wish.
We had to sell our home and buy another while my husband was at reahb.
The hardest part for us has been finding good help. I had to realize I could not do it all alone.
My spouse had a setback and 2 mo hospital stay 3 mo after coming home and we ended up dealing with resp issues that complicated things.
We recently had a ceiling lift installed in our bedroom.
    I’m rooting for you Scott.
If I can be of any help please contact me.
