“Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you’ll find you have crossed the mountain.”

I’m still on bed rest trying to heal this stubborn pressure sore. It’s getting better, but very slowly. However, I’ve been able to use the time in bed to continue to move things forward for my transition back to the apartment. We’re in the process of getting all of the needed equipment ordered and other furnishings for the place. However, there have been a few unforeseen “puddles” that have arisen relating to the insurance side of things. As frustrating as it is, we are working through them in as efficient a manner as possible. It may delay my discharge by a few days, but I am still very excited.

I think I am most excited about getting home so that I can begin an aggressive physical therapy regimen again. I hope to stand every day and build my tolerance back up, as well as increase my muscle mass and bone density. I am very excited to eventually get my FES bike so that I can begin getting some cardiovascular exercise as well as improve my circulation. I miss working out and being active. I think getting to the apartment and on to my home equipment is the best medicine for me right now. I may also look into some outpatient therapy at Metro.

I am still excited to be going to Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore in April for therapy. My family needs to find some caretakers in the area while I am there. If anyone has any contacts in the Baltimore area that are trained as nurses aides, please let me know.

My parents were able to pick up the new road wheels today. It’s a fully loaded, gun metal gray Chrysler Town and Country. Sweet… I’m now officially a “soccer quad” who can ride shotgun again! It’s a nice ride that will accommodate up to five people. It’s great to finally have a van to call our own and use as needed whenever we want. It will make life easier.

All in all, things are continuing to progress in the right direction. While not everything always happens the way we had planned, or as quickly as we’d like, if we keep pushing forward we generate momentum. And momentum can be a powerful thing if you make it work for you. Right now, my focus is on the successful transition to the apartment. Once there, it will be on getting into a daily exercise routine that I can feel good about. I also plan to begin writing more and getting back to doing some consulting work. I want to get busy again… I’ve done enough laying around these past few weeks.

As always, thank you to run out there for your continued support, thoughtful prayers and willingness to help out in whatever way possible! I am so very appreciative of everything!

Scott

Haven’t sent you an email in a while because Don has been in the hosptal. He was a squad run Jan.31,spent 3 days in ICU and 1 day on med. floor. He is back home and better. As we keep you in our prayers, add him to your prayers. He retired in ’04,and has had something serious happen EVERY year to him,but he does not give up either, just deals with it,one day at a time. He is trying to adjust to a hearing aid since losing total hearing in his rt. ear, this he is having a hard time adjusting to.
Your new set of wheels sounds wonderful, bet your counting the days before you can ride in it. Have a good trip to Baltimore.
Keeping you in our thoughts and Prayers

    Scott,
I am excited for you. I was interviewed for a new listing and your story came up. This lady has connections with a person in LA that works with TV shows. Hope it is okay to forward your emails to this lady. Something may come of it.
