Just a quick update to let everyone know the surgery went well and I feel very good.  I recovered from the anesthesia very quickly, and did not need to be placed on the vent.  In fact, the doctors were surprised at how well I recovered and how strong my abs were.  I guess all those sit ups paid off since there was much less atrophy than they would have expected.  They tested the device while I was on the OR table and told my family that it was the best results they had seen from any of the previous procedures.  In fact, they were cheering in the OR because my measurements were off the charts.  I am only the 14th person in the world to have this procedure done; so I do feel like a member of a special fraternity.  In three weeks they will test the device.  They need to give time for the surgical site to heal.  One of the doctors was actually concerned that I might split my stitches because my cough was so strong. Hopefully all will go well with the tests.  If so, in a few months I will have my trache removed.  I also plan on having my diaphramatic pacer removed.

I want to thank everyone for your prayers.  The support and outreach was so greatly appreciated.  All of the support I have received these past 14 months has been overwhelming and I believe has helped get me through many of the difficult days.

I hope to be released from the hospital Friday afternoon and back at RaeAnn in time for Saturday’s OSU – Miami game.  Go Bucks!

Finally, some pictures from the fundraiser have been posted to the Gallery.  I will probably add more at a later date.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.

Scott

What wonderful news Scott! Praise the Lord! You keep working, I’ll keep praying.
I just returned from a college visit with my son to Miami – from what I understand, OSU won’t have a problem with Saturday’s game – and that came from the tour guide! 🙂
    Blessings,

    Dear Scott,
This is wonderful news. You have been in the prayers of many people for more than a year. May your recovery from this procedure be as strong and speedy as your initial response to it.
    God Bless,

    Scott,
You are the man, the myth and the legend. 14th in the world and ratings off the charts. Doesn’t come as a surprise to me knowing all the power generated by your body, soul and mind. Just another success story to add to your Bucket List. Keep it up brother. Love you ‘Mini-Me.” Give the family kisses from your buddies in TN.

so thrilled at how well the surgery went and how quickly you came out of anesthesia-that was a LONG surgery!!! I did not realize how new this procedure was. One more thing you’ll be able to advise people about. Love you! Aunt Marilou
