April showers bring… More showers.

It’s been a while since I posted anything, and felt an update was needed.

The month of May started off in a festive manner with the Kentucky Derby and Perry’s First Communion celebration. Two occasions to play “dress up” and celebrate with friends and family. Very proud of my niece as she continues to further her relationship with Jesus.

Things then quickly took a turn…

My Medicaid nursing hours were slashed by 22%. Brutal. I am still confused as to what the decision to reduce my level of care was based on, especially when you consider that nothing has changed in my situation that would warrant such a drastic course of action. I am in the process of appealing, but as one can imagine, somewhat anxious about navigating the road ahead.

Unfortunately, I was relegated to two weeks of bed rest to heal a pressure sore. I also developed a slight case of pneumonia. I guess when it rains it pours. And that is exactly what it did, as most of the time I spent in bed was accompanied by cold/damp weather, which made the bed rest a bit more tolerable. The good news is that things are progressing in the right direction. Back to about 90% of my typical self. I wish I could say the same for the weather, but every day is one day closer to summer.

Like just about everyone else, I am looking forward to enjoying a long summer. I am ready for summer. I am ready for warmer temperatures. I am ready for all the fun events that typically accompany the summer season. I feel like they are long overdue. It’s also a good time to dust off the mental cobwebs and funks that tend to creep in and take up residence over the winter months.

Had a great talk in Tiffin in April, and have a few others on the horizon, including one with Chick-fil-A later this summer. I am also in the way-too-early-to-talk-about planning phase of a significant project, which I hope comes to fruition. Like I said, too early to talk about, but hope to be able to share some details down the road.

Finally, in the spirit of First Communion, a friendly reminder that could all use more Jesus in our lives. Let’s be sure to treat each other with respect. Things are tough out there right now. Do your best to be good.

Stand Strong!

Scott

Hi Scott ! Hope your health is continuing to improve. I had a pesky URI of some sort, which kept me down and out for about a week! It even took me awhile to get back to health. This damp/dark weather wreaks havoc with us both physically and mentally at times! On a brighter note, your Niece looks so beautiful , and you are right, prayers for her continued growth in her relationship with Jesus. Good luck with your special project, and hope it comes to fruition soon! Take care!

I thought something was happening with you. Glad you are better. I just wrote a letter to Moreno asking him not to vote for the cuts in Medicaid. He probably won’t pay any attention to the letter but I feel better in writing it. I am turning into a real activist by writing letters to Supreme Court, DeWine, Moreno! I also protested with Hands Off Social Security and Medicare. The administration better not mess with those or there will be an uprising at the Capital by retired seniors that will make January 6th look like a tea party!
Perry is becoming a pretty young lady!

Hi Scott, so sorry to hear what you’ve been dealing with of late. And the crappy weather certainly doesn’t help. I remember well those seemingly interminable stretches of damp and chilly weather. But hang in there. Summer is literally just around the corner:) I’m looking forward to hearing further details about these projects you have in the pipeline! Take good care and feel better soon.

Amen. We can all use a little more Jesus in our lives.

I’m so sorry about your Medicaid cuts; that’s just awful, beyond words. I’m sorry, too, about the pressure sore/bed rest/pneumonia. Continued prayers, Scott. I’ll up my game for you.

Please take my husband off my hands one evening soon. That would be a win-win for everyone.

Your strength keeps me going when I think I can’t move forward. Thank you. Hope to see you soon —

Praying for you, dear brother. I was so worried for you with all the crazy slashing of benefits and jobs with no regard for who they may be affecting has me on my knees a lot lately.

I hope you are feeling better as the weather turns sunny. I am excited to hear that your “new project” does indeed come to fruition. Your courage and strength never cease to amaze me. God is always with you.
