Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to everyone!

Turkey Day may have come and gone, but giving thanks for the blessings in our lives should be a year-long event. Obviously, everyone faces their own adversity throughout the year, some of which can be life-changing and devastating. However, in spite of our challenges, I’d like to think that all of us can find something each day to be thankful for. Sometimes we just need to look in a different place.

Thanksgiving also serves as the unofficial launch of the Christmas season. Although, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are considered “shopping holidays” by some, and observed religiously, they have helped spawn a new, but more meaningful day – Giving Tuesday.

For those unfamiliar with it, #GivingTuesday, is a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then spread the word about how you are giving and join the global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.

Even if it’s not monetary, there are still ways to spread generosity to others. If you do decide to support a charity, perhaps you’ll consider, Getting Back Up, which helps individuals living with a spinal cord injury improve the quality of their lives today. The focus is on providing goods and services which can make a difference in someone’s immediate situation.

This past year, Getting Back Up has been able to assist 7 individuals with exercise-based therapy scholarships and adaptive products (all of which would not have been covered by insurance). All of the assistance provided is due to the generosity of individual donations. Keep an eye out for a newsletter towards the end of this year detailing what the organization has been up to.

For anyone interested in donating, you can do so by clicking here. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Thank you in advance for any support!

A very worthy cause. At least you know where your contribution is helping.
