Happy New Year!

It was inevitable, but it finally got cold. January is now acting like January. However, like I always say, one day closer to summer. It’s just getting through the next 100 days or so that isn’t always fun!

One exciting thing that the next few months will bring is a new home. A lot of work has been done over the past two months and the property should be habitable by early spring. I recently found out through a third-party that Lindsey launched a GoFundMe Campaign to help defray some of the furnishing expenses. I am very grateful and humbled by her doing this, and equally thankful for all of those who have already helped me along the way. If interested, you can learn more about the fundraiser here.

Speaking of projects, I’ve been asked to serve on a committee for the Institute for Functional Restoration. The IFR is an organization that seeks to ensure the widespread availability of technology for the restoration of function for those with neurological impairments.

I am certainly a huge advocate of this type of technology due to the quality of life I am able to enjoy in large part because of what’s been developed. There is a lot exciting news on the horizon regarding the work currently being done!

And when it comes to news, I was recently asked to comment on some of the exciting medical breakthroughs happening in Cleveland. The segment aired on WKYC Channel 3 last week. You can check it out on the WKYC website.

Finally, I wanted to share a picture that was passed on to me from my friend, Brooke, who was going through her daughter’s graded school papers and found something Allison had made. I always enjoy getting homemade pictures from kids around Christmas, and this was certainly no exception.

Brooke

I hope the new year is off to a great start for everyone. Remember, it’s never too late to turn it all around…

Thanks for the continued prayers and support!

Stand Strong!

Scott

What a great piece on WKYC! You’re amazing as usual. And thank you for sharing Alison’s letter. 🙂 It was such a pleasant surprise when she brought it home. She loved getting to finally meet you (and of course Melanie!) last summer. Especially after hearing about you for so long: “Would my friend Scott say this was too hard and give up? No, he wouldn’t. So neither should you.” 😉 Hope to see you again soon, friend!

    Hi Scott,
Happy New Year. Wonderful news regarding the progress on the home. You are certainly a person worthy of serving on those committees. What a lovely card from Allison, that is something to be charished. Love and all the best to you.

Hi Scott. I’m Michelle’s mom. She showed me your website about a year ago, and I now look forward to see your blog posts in my email. You inspire me. My disabilities are invisible. Though it’s not obvious to anyone who doesn’t know me, I am challenged daily with sleep disorders and the mental oppression that can follow those diagnoses. You inspire me because when I finally wake up (physically) for the day but don’t want to (mentally), I can hear you say “stand up and stand strong”. And I almost always do. Getting through the day, “stand up and stand strong”. And at bedtime I hear “lay down, but dream strong”. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going — standing strong!
I’m so happy for you to be moving to a better home. Congratulations!

So good to hear all of this! Glad you are doing well. I’m fighting the welfare department, her previous payee (daughter who is severely disabled) so have my hands tied for now but know God will work it out for good. Hang in there.
